Planning your website.

We start with a thorough understanding of your market and target audience. Where do we get this information? From you! You know your industry, and we need your help to learn all about it so we can design effectively and create a site that encompasses your know-how expressed with our skills. If you have a current logo and identity colors that you wish to use, these will also be taken into consideration with the initial planning of your site.

This is when we set you to work, to find a few websites that really appeal to you. Because there are so many different styles of website design and you are bound to have your own preferences in form and function, your website examples give us a taste of what appeals to you and saves much time and effort when planning your site's design.

After we have a feel for what you like, we will add suggestions and provide examples of different elements that we feel would be of benefit to you.

Before proceeding to the actual design stage, a website schematic of your project is created. This is just a basic layout of your website's pages and how they will relate to one another. As one of the most important elements of any website is simple and functional navigation, a sound schematic is an absolute necessity before creative work can begin on your site.

Now, a static image of what your website will look like can be created and submitted to you for review and revisions. You'll have a chance to look at each page of your site and check areas utilizing different stylization and navigation. As this is a static image, any element that requires animation and/or effects of any kind will have to wait until further along in the design process for review. Generally, clients don't have all copy necessary for their complete site at this time, so filler copy will take the place of the final text. The same is often true of images to be used on the final site. Your static site will have images that fit the content, but these are most often replaced by stock photography, by images provided by you, or by images created during a photo shoot set up to create visual content for your website. When you are fully satisfied with all aspects of your still design (with the assumption that body copy and images presented are 'filler' content to be replaced later), your site will then enter the development stage of production.
