Each website designed by One Planet Design is a handcrafted individual work reflecting our client’s needs, individual style and personality. We don’t use templates and we don’t make assumptions. We use your input throughout the design process to insure that this is a collaborative work that will fulfill your needs and exceed your expectations while maintaining the unique identity of your business.
This client required a site using Wordpress, but sought a unique identity. Most WordPress sites are created using existing templates. Generally, designers alter basic templates to create a different look for their clients, but as all of their sites are based on another designer's outlook, all of their sites come out with a similar look and feel.
This is just not how we work.
This site was designed as a non-WordPress site, and then custom templates were created to make this design work in the WordPress environment. Is this just a subtle difference in design? No!
Anyone understanding the way WordPress works can design around their constraints. We ignore these constraints to create a site you'll love, and then find a way to make everything work the way you want it to.

This client came to One Planet Design with a site functionality problem.
The client was happy with the look of the site, but their previous designer had ignored the fact that the client wanted to be able to update their site on a regular basis. This site used a ridiculously complicated (and completely unnecessary) structure of tables within tables within tables. The previous site designer had also neglected to optomize any images. The oversized images combined with the complex coding caused the site to load very slowly.
The client was initially looking for lessons on how to update their current site, with the intention that we later provide further content. A quick review of the site coding and functionality made it clear that teaching the client to make updates would be incredibly complicated, and further site updates would be nearly impossible with the current design. We felt it would be far more practical to 'fix' the site and allow the client to use WordPress to make their own pages and updates to the site.
The client cautiously agreed to go with our suggestion—and is now very satisfied with the outcome.

This client hired the wrong designer for theor WordPress site design for their band and was desperately seeking help in making their site meet their expectations.
An unscrupulous designer collected payment for the proect and created a basic site with no main page describing the band, incorrect links for email contacts, a non-functioning newsletter form, an unfinished page for site visitors leaving responses to their blog posts on upcoming shows and band information, and a plethora of other small but problematic issues that left the site painfully incomplete.
The former designer refused to provide the necessary information to edit the site using normal strategies, and also refused to allow the client access to their domain name—making it impossible for the client to simply have a new site designed for this domain name. We did some rather creative edits to the site using the only entry-point available, and were able to make all content both fully functional and more visually appealing.

While we most often work directly with our clients, on occasion, we also work with other designers to help them meet the needs of their clients.
A very skilled print designer with limited web design skills requested our aid in producing a functional website from their static design.
We worked closely with both the designer and their client to reach a satisfactory goal for everyone. Our lead web designer, Mary Bouldin, has strong people skills and is very effective in communicating as well as interpreting design ideas.

We cad worked with a client/designer team on a previous project. When they decided they needed another site, we gladly joined in to make it happen.
In many ways, this was a replication of their previous site—making this is simple project for the most part. This client, did, however, have multiple resources for their internet services, having websites with multiple hosts, and domain names on other multiple hosts.
This required a good deal of strategic planning and time on hold, working with issues with multiple providers. We didn't't mind. We multi-task. ‘Hold’ is only a deterrent for us when the music is bad. We have other things to do… while waiting, so if a client

This client started with an idea of what they wanted to display, but little else. No logo, no identity colors, and only a very rough idea of what their pages should display.
Working one-on-one with the client, we were able to develop a logo and identity colors for the site.
We threw in an introduction just for posterity, and the client loved it. The intro allows loading time for the site content while allowing any viewer to bypass loading and go straight to the site.

This site was created entirely in Flash, with ease of navigation and simplicity in design as the basis of the site's design.
While this site is rather basic in functionality, the simple clean design puts emphasis on the work displayed rather than on the site's design in itself.
Many designers get lost in the creative process, of creating art for the Internet via web design. Yes, a beautiful site is a wonderful thing, but if your content is artistic in nature, the very last thing you need is users distracted by design elements of your website. When promoting any kind of art, your website should be neutral—as close to a blank canvas on which to display your wares as a designer can get, while still offering a familiar web environment in which to navigate.
Your site should have a stark beauty that requires your artistic content to complete the website's composition.

This project required a full identity design including branding colors and logo creation. This project required working with a photographer to provide the high-quality images required in creating the animation for this piece. All of the artist's pages provide close-up examples of each work of art, using animation and music chosen to emphasize the emotional impact of each piece. The play-back of the animation is done with flash, providing the viewer with audio and video control as well as the ability to scroll through each video and review the artwork at their own pace.

This client had a web identity, but this site was designed for commercial clients seeking high-end videography. While creating moving documentaries and excellent commercials, my client also enjoyed creating wedding videos. Unfortunately, these skills fall into two different genres. Companies seeking high-end videographers don't seek out wedding skills and visa versa. This website was designed to compliment the commercial site while expressing the skills of my client as a skilled wedding videograpgher—entirely separate from his 'other' career, creating commercial works.

In the initial phases of One Planet Design, the lead graphic designer, Mary Bouldin, sought to demonstrate her skills via a playful and experimental flash site. While a nice example of working in flash, the site didn't express to clients how these abilities could be used to their advantage. As such, it was a failed experiment, but please feel free to explore the site for an idea of what your site can encompass (hint—click on the large lever on the left side of the page, and then send a message via the contact link).

This client (a band) sought a web resource beyond their MySpace music page. Given minimal input regarding design, the site was developed after enjoying their music and exploring past CD covers. Several CD cover design concepts were adapted to make a universal design combining many years of recording work into a familiar space for both new listeners and long-time fans.
